Aegis of Fire

The undisputed star of this painting is Stegosaurus ungulatus, one of the most iconic and beloved dinosaurs of all time.
Stegosaurus has undergone significant iconographic evolution that hasn’t ceased even in the last decade. The model created for this painting represents one of the most accurate reconstructions based on our current understanding of this animal as of 2025, drawing from the most recent studies.
Nevertheless, I allowed myself the freedom to speculate on certain aspects of the integument, particularly the facial soft tissues and the shape of the iconic plates, as I will explain further.
