Useful for understanding

How to use symbols to tell complex stories, making them interesting and synthesizing the purpose of the narrative into an image.

Here is an excerpt from the book

The story of Long John Silver, the most famous pirate from Stevenson’s novel “Treasure Island,” a character that massively influenced the collective imagination of pirates, consisting of tropical islands, treasure maps, parrots on the shoulder, and chests filled with golden doubloons.

As I mentioned, I wanted to tell this story in an unconventional way, so I brought together various elements typical of the pirate world and let them tell the story for me.

By constructing the composition and arranging the various elements, an exciting adventure revealed itself before my eyes, with buccaneers armed to the teeth, sailing their ships across the Caribbean Sea.

The greatest challenge was selecting elements and a composition style that could somehow be original and uncommon, and that could still convey something to the viewer. I mixed typical pirate iconography with something that was as unique as possible, reflecting my own personal touch.
