The Porcelain Crab, despite its name, is technically more closely related to hermit crabs than true crabs.
It is a very small species, measuring approximately 3 cm, and it primarily lives in the shade of rocks.
Its scientific name, Platychelis, means “flat claws,” referring to its flattened claws.

I created this illustration along with 36 others for the project "Dentro e Fuori dall'Acqua" by nature photographer Lorenzo Peter Castelletto, which aimed to promote the awareness of tidal habitat life forms.

Inside and outside the water
The project @dentro_e_fuori_dallacqua is a format by wildlife photographer @lorenzopetercastelletto_photos, its aim is to show the biodiversity of the tidal environments and more in general of the biodiversity that lives on the line between the watery world and the world out of water.
The exhibition is promoted by @wwfitalia, @ampmiramare, @ogs_it and it is exposed at the central station of Trieste until June 11th 2023.
